Readers of The Orange County Register have voted Doheny State Beach as the County's "Best Camping Site" for the 16th consecutive year in its Annual Best of Orange County survey. "A five-acre stretch of grass near the sand is ideal for picknicking, hiking and general recreation...[It] is the only park in Orange County that offers beach-front camping," says the Register's writers. Summer 2010 Newsletter	Visitor Center Closed Indefinitely
The Summer 2010 DSBIA Newsletter is available for printing online. In this edition you can read the first hand accounts of Lily the Whale, among other features on the Beach Ecology Coalition meeting in May, the life of a Ranger, progress on the Visistor Center renovation, notes from our Park Naturalist Vicki, a recap of the 4th Annual Surf-A-Rama, and California Sea Lions.	California State Parks has closed the Doheny State Beach Visitor Center until further notice. It has been the home of many aquariums and displays where Park visitors have been able to see and learn about the ocean environment. The Gift Store and Park Office have been relocated to the lifeguard headquarters on the beach adjacent to San Juan Creek.
